Duke Traps #1 Coil Spring Trap Features The Duke Traps #1 Coil Spring Trap is a foot-hold restraining device engineered around a coil spring power system rather than a long spring design giving it a more compact footprint for storage and transport. The coil springs deliver fast consistent jaw closure once an animal steps on the pan which helps ensure a clean humane hold. Steel construction throughout the frame and jaws gives the trap the strength to stand up to repeated use and the outdoor conditions trappers work in season after season. The 4 inch jaw spread is matched to the size #1 frame making this trap well suited to smaller furbearers without the bulk of a larger trap. This trap is targeted specifically at mink muskrat and raccoon so trappers working these species get a tool sized and sprung appropriately for the job rather than a general-purpose trap stretched to fit. The compact coil spring design also makes the #1 easier to set by hand compared to bulkier long-spring traps which can speed up a trapline with many sets. Steel components resist the wear that comes from repeated exposure to water mud and freezing conditions common in mink and muskrat habitat. For trappers building out or restocking a line for small to medium furbearers the Duke Traps #1 Coil Spring Trap offers a straightforward field-proven design.
