Vortex Viper HD 3000 Laser Rangefinder The Vortex Viper HD 3000 is a 7x hunting laser rangefinder built for everything from elk across a distant meadow to a buck moving through thick timber. It ranges reflective targets out to 3,000 yards, trees to 2,300 yards and deer to 2,000 yards, with an HD optical system that makes it easy to pick out game at distance. Ranging and Target Modes Horizontal Component Distance (HCD) mode shows the angle-compensated distance for steep uphill and downhill shots, Line of Sight (LOS) shows the straight-line range, and Scan gives continuous readings as you pan. Target modes include Normal, First (closest target, for game in front of a bigger background), Last (farthest target, for ranging through brush) and Extended Laser Range (ELR), which takes slightly longer to read in exchange for maximum distance and works best on a tripod. HD Glass and Rugged Build The HD optical system uses select glass elements for sharp resolution, true color and edge-to-edge clarity, and XR Plus lens coatings maximize light transmission for low-light use. ArmorTek coatings guard the exterior lenses against scratches, oil and dirt. Rubber armor gives a secure grip, the diopter adjusts for your eyes, and the menu runs on a clean illuminated display that reads in yards or meters. It is waterproof, shockproof and tripod adaptable, and a utility clip lets you carry it on webbing or a pack strap.
