Springfield Armory Echelon 4.5F, 9mm, 4.5 Barrel, 15+1, Black, Optics Ready, Tritium U-Dot SightsThe Springfield Armory Echelon 4.5F is a modular, striker-fired 9mm duty pistol built around a serialized stainless steel chassis. This version, Springfield part number EC9459B-U-15, is the 15-round variant: it ships with two 15-round magazines, so shooters in places with magazine capacity limits can own a full-size Echelon. It pairs a 4.5 hammer-forged barrel with a billet-machined, optics-ready slide, a tritium/luminescent front sight and a Tactical Rack U-Dot rear sight, all in black.Springfield describes the Echelon as a new standard for modern striker-fired duty pistols. It is fully ambidextrous, takes optics without adapter plates and lets you move the operating system between grip modules in seconds.Get a modular, optics-ready 9mm duty pistol with 15-round magazines. It is a self-contained, serialized stainless steel chassis that houses the pistol's operating system. Because the COG is the serialized part, you can move it into any Echelon grip module in seconds. That lets you change the size and feel of the pistol without buying a new gun. This pistol comes with the medium grip module and three interchangeable backstraps, and small and large grip modules are sold separately.Variable Interface System Optics MountingThe slide is optics ready through Springfield's Variable Interface System, or VIS. Instead of adapter plates, the VIS uses movable, self-locking pins that press against the optic's interior mounting surface. Springfield says the pins can be positioned to fit the footprints of more than 30 popular optics for a low, direct mount. The result is a lower sight picture, more natural alignment between the dot and the iron sights, and consistent point of aim and point of impact. Two 15-Round MagazinesThis variant of the Echelon ships with two 15-round magazines for capacity-restricted states, for a 15+1 capacity. The magazines are designed for rugged durability, hard use and reliable operation, with a blacked-out, scratch- and wear-resistant coating. Check your state and local laws before you order; capacity rules vary.Hammer-Forged 4.5 BarrelAccuracy starts with a 4.5 hammer-forged steel barrel with a Melonite finish and a 1:10 twist. Hammer forging gives a dense, durable barrel, and Melonite adds hardness and corrosion resistance. A captive recoil system keeps the spring and guide rod together for easy takedown and reassembly.Billet-Machined SlideThe slide is billet machined with a Melonite finish and four distinct engagement surfaces. A trench cut forward of the action gives you a natural index point for press checks and charging the pistol. The back of the slide is flared for positive purchase, and deep forward and rear serrations wrap through the corners for a firm grip from any angle.Tritium U-Dot SightsThe front sight is a tritium/luminescent unit that glows in low light. The rear is Springfield's Tactical Rack U-Dot sight (some distributors call it a U-Notch rear). Its square front face lets you rack the slide one-handed against a belt or table edge. The U-Dot layout gives you a fast, intuitive sight picture day or night, and with a red dot mounted the irons sit low enough to serve as a backup.Ergonomics and Ambidextrous ControlsThe black polymer frame has a 1.2 grip width, an aggressive texture for a secure hold and an accessory rail for a weapon light. All controls are fully ambidextrous, so the Echelon works just as well for left-handed shooters. With three backstraps and optional small and large grip modules, you can fit the grip to your hand. What Is IncludedSpringfield ships this pistol with two 15-round magazines, the medium grip module with three interchangeable backstraps, and a Springfield Armory double-zipper handgun case with an interior pouch for an extra magazine.
