Barrel length is a balance between velocity and handling. A longer muzzleloader barrel gives the powder charge more time to burn and can add velocity, while a shorter barrel is quicker to handle in a blind or in thick timber.Ignition and LoadingThis rifle uses VariFlame ignition. A 209 shotgun primer gives a hot, consistent flame to the powder charge, which helps reliable ignition in cold and wet weather, especially with pelletized propellants. The break-action design opens like a single shot, so you can prime it and check the breech quickly, and you can unload by removing the primer when you leave the field.Stock and HandlingThe stock is adjustable. A good fit is what lets you mount the rifle the same way every time, which is the foundation of consistent shooting.Sights and OpticsBefore you buy rings or a mount, confirm the base pattern for this model in the owner's manual or with our team, and zero with the projectile and charge you plan to hunt with.About the CVA Accura PlatformThe Accura family is CVA's flagship line of break-action inline muzzleloaders. Accura rifles are built on a stainless steel break-open action, use 209 primer ignition and the tool-free Quick Release Breech Plug, and are fitted with fluted stainless steel Bergara barrels. A reliable, easy-to-clean action and a quality barrel are what let a muzzleloader group tightly shot after shot, and that is the reason hunters pick the Accura for long-range muzzleloader seasons.About the .50 CalThis is a .50 Cal inline muzzleloader. Load it only with the propellants and projectiles the owner's manual approves, use the charge weights it lists, and seat each projectile firmly on the powder. Keep in mind that muzzleloader season rules, including legal calibers, ignition, sights and propellant, differ from state to state, so check your local regulations before the hunt.Care and Setup TipsClean a muzzleloader the same day you shoot it. Black powder and most substitutes leave corrosive fouling, so remove the breech plug, scrub the bore with a solvent made for muzzleloaders, dry it, and apply a light coat of oil. Put a little breech plug grease on the plug threads before you reinstall it so it comes out easily next time.Practice with the exact powder charge and projectile you will hunt with, and swab the bore between shots at the range if your load needs it. Consistent loading and seating pressure are what turn a good muzzleloader into a tack driver.About CVACVA (Connecticut Valley Arms) has built muzzleloaders since 1971 and today is part of BPI Outdoors, which also includes Bergara, PowerBelt and Durasight. Many CVA rifles use barrels made by Bergara, the barrel maker CVA owns in Spain, and the company is known for putting accurate, practical hunting rifles within reach of everyday hunters.Ordering and ShippingUnder federal law most modern inline muzzleloaders are not classed as firearms, so this rifle can usually ship without an FFL transfer.
