Product Description
**Winchester U.S. Model 1917 Enfield - .30-06 Springfield - WWI Military Rifle**
An outstanding example of American military history, this Winchester-manufactured U.S. Model 1917 Enfield represents one of the most important infantry rifles of World War I.
Manufactured during America's rapid military expansion in 1917, the M1917 became the most widely issued American rifle among U.S. troops fighting in France. Winchester was the smallest of the three M1917 manufacturers, producing approximately 466,000 rifles, compared with substantially larger production runs by Remington and Eddystone.
This early-production Winchester, serial number 89475, features a Winchester-marked barrel dated November 1917 (11-17), complete with the U.S. Ordnance flaming bomb marking. It retains its traditional full-length military configuration, original-style wood furniture, protected rear aperture sight, and distinctive Enfield action.
**Condition:** Exceptionally well-preserved appearance for a rifle more than a century old. Its Winchester manufacture, early production markings, and attractive military configuration make it a particularly interesting example for collectors of historic American military firearms.
A remarkable surviving piece of Great War history and a testament to Winchester's contribution to America's wartime arsenal.
