Remington - 742 Woodmaster Action: Semi-automatic (Gas-operated) Barrel Length: 22" Caliber: 30-06 springfield Capacity: 4+1 (4-round detachable box magazine) Production Years: 1960-1980 (Discontinued; succeeded by the 7400) Features Gas-Operated Autoloading Action: Employs a gas system adapted from the legendary Remington 1100 shotgun series. This greatly mitigates felt recoil compared to contemporary bolt-action or pump rifles. Multiple Locking Lugs: The bolt face features a rotating head with interrupted locking lugs that secure directly into the barrel extension. This design ensures tight, consistent lock-up for optimal chamber pressure. Side-Ejection Port: Keeps the top of the receiver clear. The solid-top receiver is factory drilled and tapped, facilitating easy mounting of low-profile rifle scopes. Detachable Box Magazine: Uses a flush-fitting, straight 4-round steel magazine with a prominent release button located on the right side of the receiver. Shotgun-Style Safety: Employs a standard, intuitive cross-bolt safety button located at the rear of the trigger guard. Classic Styling displaying a bear motif on one side of the receiver and a deer woodland scene on the other. Picatinny Rail For Scope Mount Shows Wear ( see photos )
