Product Description
"Early 20th-Century Smith & Wesson .38 Military & Police, Model of 1905, Fourth Change, chambered in .38 Special, serial number 260776, dating to the early Fourth Change production era, most likely the late 1910's. This handsome, classic Smith features a 4"" barrel, 6-shot fluted cylinder, traditional 5-screw K-frame design, fixed sights, exposed ejector rod, tapered pinned barrel, and checkered walnut stocks with S&W medallions. The barrel retains its Springfield, Massachusetts, address and early patent date markings, including the December 29, 1914 patent date. The blued finish shows honest wear, scattered scratches, finish thinning, and areas of patina while retaining a significant amount of its attractive, apparently original bluing. The walnut stocks show appropriate age and handling wear. They may be original to this gun, but we did not want to risk removing them to see. Mechanically, it's impressive, exhibiting a smooth double-action with tight cylinder lockup. The bore has been cleaned and retains clearly visible rifling. This historic revolver represents a long and distinguished lineage that eventually became today's Model 10. No box or case."
