What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I took the S/Lab Shift Alpha BOA Boot on a big objectives day that mixed a long skin track with some of the most committing descents I've done in a touring setup. The walk mode gave me real range of motion on the way up, and when I clicked into ski mode at the top the 140 flex and locked-in heel pocket felt like a proper alpine boot. This is the one I reach for when the day demands everything."The approach takes two hours, the descent takes twenty minutes, and both of them matter. The S/Lab Shift Alpha BOA Boot from Salomon is built around that reality, delivering a 140 flex and a snug 98mm last that performs like a dedicated alpine boot on the way down, without making you pay for it on the way up. The Pebax cuff keeps the power transmission stiff and direct when you need it, and walk mode opens up enough range of motion to make a long skin track feel like an actual choice rather than a punishment. Tech insert compatibility means this boot slots into a full backcountry binding setup without compromise, and the Custom Shell HD process lets a bootfitter personalize the fit to your specific foot before you ever leave the parking lot. The BOA Fit System handles closure with one dial, keeping the system clean and adjustable even with gloves on. For advanced and expert skiers who refuse to carry two pairs of boots, the Shift Alpha BOA is the answer.
