What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I’ve fished the Ratio on everything from spooky offshore species to heavy freshwater predators, and the drag range is the standout. It stays buttery at low settings to protect light tippet, then ramps into serious stopping power without hesitation. The sealed carbon and stainless drag also holds up incredibly well in wet, gritty conditions."When we head out chasing big, unpredictable fish, we want a reel we can trust when the fight shifts in an instant. The Orvis Ratio Reel steps into that role with a build engineered for strength, sensitivity, and precise drag control. From delicate takes on light setups to explosive runs that demand authority, this reel gives us confidence to stay connected and in control. A wide drag range forms the backbone of the Ratio platform, letting us fine-tune tension for IGFA-class tippets or lock down pressure when a fish turns deep. The fully sealed carbon and stainless drag keeps performance consistent through salt, spray, and long seasons. With sizes spanning III to VI—including shallow and deep spool variants—we can match rigs for freshwater predators, nearshore species, or serious big-water battles.
