What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I bring the Ultra 6. 5R Mummy when I want the warmest pad possible without the bulk. The tapered shape cuts weight and pack size, but I still sleep warm even in single-digit temps. It’s ideal for winter backpacking or fast-moving alpine pushes."When our route includes frigid temps and fast miles, the Ultra 6. 5R Mummy Sleeping Pad from EXPED keeps our sleep system ultralight and cold-ready. Designed with a tapered mummy shape to trim unnecessary bulk, this pad delivers exceptional insulation and comfort without weighing us down. Using SynMat Plus Technology™, the Ultra 6. 5R Mummy combines recycled microfiber insulation and heat-reflective foil to achieve an impressive 6. 4 ASTM R-value—rated down to -4°F. The 3. 5-inch thickness cushions against frozen ground, while the bluesign® approved 20D recycled ripstop polyester shell holds strong through repeated use. With pack-friendly sizing and reliable warmth, it’s a critical piece of kit for solo winter backpackers and alpine minimalists.
