What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"ZoomX foam in a trail shoe is a genuine upgrade — it's the same responsive cushioning Nike uses in their road racers, and it makes a real difference on long efforts where foot fatigue starts to add up. The Vibram Megagrip outsole handles wet rock better than most, and the wider forefoot gives your toes room to work on technical footing. If you've been running in a max-cushion road shoe and want to take longer days onto the trail, this is a strong starting point."The miles that break down a shoe — and your feet — are the long ones on uneven ground, where every step asks something slightly different from your footwear. The Nike ACG Zegama Hiking Shoe is built around that reality. ZoomX foam in the midsole delivers the kind of cushioning that actually returns energy rather than just absorbing it, which matters more at mile eighteen than it does at mile two. The 38mm heel stack keeps your foot well away from the ground on rocky descents without making the shoe feel unstable underfoot. The Vibram Megagrip outsole handles the surfaces that expose lesser rubber — wet granite, loose shale, muddy switchbacks — with enough confidence that you stop thinking about your footing and start thinking about your pace. The engineered mesh upper breathes well and holds its structure under load, and the wider forefoot gives your toes room to splay naturally on technical terrain where balance and feel matter. This is a shoe built for people who take long days in the mountains seriously.
