"The Hopkins & Allen Side-by-Side (SxS) 12-Gauge Shotgun with a 30-inch barrel is a vintage American utility gun manufactured during the golden age of mass-market firearms production, primarily between 1880 and 1916. Hopkins & Allen (based in Norwich, Connecticut) was famous for producing solid, working-man firearms that were sold directly under their own name or hardware store brand names. A 12-gauge configuration with 30-inch barrels was the quintessential ""hardware store gun"" of the turn of the century, built as a rugged tool for farm defense, sustenance hunting, and waterfowling."
