Garmin inReach Messenger Plus Features The Garmin inReach Messenger Plus keeps users connected to satellite coverage for two way messaging and SOS alerts when cell service runs out which matters most exactly when something goes wrong far from a trailhead. The onboard SOS function routes an alert through Garmin s satellite network so help can be summoned from remote terrain where a phone alone would be useless. The mapping function lets users track a route and share location in real time giving family or a group leader visibility into progress on a hike hunt or expedition. The 160x68 display is covered in chemically strengthened glass which resists scratching and cracking from the rough handling a field device takes on a belt pack strap or dash mount. A rechargeable lithium ion battery is rated for up to 120 hours when sending a text roughly every two minutes in low power mode giving multi day trips enough runtime without a mid trip charge. That kind of endurance matters on extended backcountry trips where an outlet is not an option and every ounce of gear has to earn its place. At 4 ounces the inReach Messenger Plus adds almost nothing to a pack s total weight making it an easy addition alongside a GPS radio or first aid kit. The Garmin inReach Messenger Plus in Black is available for sale at GrabAGun for hunters hikers and anyone who wants a dependable satellite link when they head off the grid.
