The rifle features a twenty-two inch medium-weight carbon steel or stainless steel air-gauged barrel with six-groove rifling and a one-in-eleven inch right-hand twist rate. The barrel terminates in a standard M14 slotted flash suppressor. The investment-cast AISI eighty-six-twenty alloy steel receiver sits inside a select American walnut stock that is factory glass-bedded for a tight, consistent fit. Sighting is managed via a National Match point-zero-six-two front post blade and a hooded point-zero-five-nine-five rear aperture that delivers half-MOA micro-adjustments for both windage and elevation. The weapon utilizes a tuned two-stage National Match trigger assembly with a break weight set between four and a half and five pounds. It feeds from a detachable rock-and-lock box magazine system. Mechanically, the rifle has an overall length of forty-four point three-three inches and an unloaded weight of nine pounds, eight ounces. This firearm does not include a bayonet lug due to production constraints of the era. The package includes one ten-round factory steel magazine.
