The 22A-1 is a full-size, rimfire pistol with an aluminum alloy frame. The steel barrel has an integrated Weaver style rail (similar to a Picatinny). This pistol is distinguished by two features: an integral rail along the top edge of the gun permits easy mounting of optical sights and accessories and the gun's alloy frame helps keep weight down for a full-sized pistol.
