The Marlin Model 3000 is a specific, lesser-known variant of the iconic Marlin Model 336 lever-action rifle. Rather than being a mass-market catalog item, it holds a unique place in firearms history as a private-label "store brand" contract rifle. The Model 3000 was specifically manufactured by Marlin as a private brand for United Merchandising Corp. (based in Hawthorne, California), which supplied retailers like Big 5 Sporting Goods.
