Byrna Technologies Shield Features The Byrna Shield Soft Body Armor uses a flexible Level IIIA ballistic construction that can be inserted into a backpack as easily as a notebook giving the wearer discreet protection that never looks like armor. Rated to withstand up to six hits from .44 Magnum rounds at velocities up to 1 464 feet per second the panel is built on patented technology manufactured domestically in the United States. Its flexible design conforms to the shape of a backpack rather than sitting as a rigid plate which keeps the bag looking and carrying normally. This combination of protection and concealment makes it a practical addition for anyone who wants a layer of ballistic defense they do not have to think about. At just 14 ounces and roughly 7/16 inch thick the Shield adds negligible weight to a backpack while still delivering genuine stopping power and it can be used stand-alone or paired with a hard plate for additional coverage. The 10 inch by 12 inch panel is sized to fit inside standard student and everyday-carry backpacks without requiring a special bag or carrier. Byrna backs the Shield with the same commitment to accessible personal protection found across its product line. For the cost of a pair of shoes it gives parents and everyday carriers a straightforward way to add a layer of peace of mind.
