Offered here is an exceptionally scarce and beautifully preserved 1994 SIG Sauer P228 in its original factory full electroless-nickel configuration. This is not a refinished pistol, a modern restoration or the more commonly encountered two-tone variation. The electroless-nickel treatment covers the slide, alloy frame and external controls, creating the distinctive monochromatic appearance that immediately separates this pistol from an ordinary P228. The authenticity and originality of this limited-availability German factory configuration makes this an especially compelling example for the serious SIG Sauer collector. Manufactured and proofed in Germany during the final era of classic folded-slide P228 production, this pistol bears the coveted "P228" and "MADE IN W. GERMANY" slide markings, the SIGARMS Exeter import mark, German definitive nitro proof, Kiel proof-house marking and the KE proof-date code establishing 1994 proofing. Although German reunification had already occurred, SIG continued using the respected West Germany rollmark during this transitional production period. These markings, combined with its complete German proofing, place the pistol firmly within one of the most desirable periods of traditional SIG Sauer manufacture. Adding significantly to its collector appeal, serial number B229312 is correctly matched on the frame, slide and barrel. This triple-matching status is particularly important on a scarce factory-finished P228, where mismatched replacement components or later refinishing would materially affect desirability and value. The original German folded carbon-steel slide retains its correct separately manufactured and pinned breech block, a hallmark of the classic P228 design and one of the defining construction differences between these early German pistols and later milled-slide SIG models. The pistol remains in excellent used condition and presents remarkably well for a firearm more than three decades old. Its factory electroless-nickel finish remains bright, even and highly attractive, with crisp factory markings and only minor handling lines, light operational contact marks and small surface imperfections consistent with careful use. The finish remains visible and consistent throughout normally concealed areas of the slide and major components, further demonstrating the completeness of the original factory treatment. The matching barrel retains an excellent bore with strong, well-defined rifling. Inspection of the folded slide, pinned breech block, frame and internal operating surfaces reveals an exceptionally clean pistol with no visible evidence of corrosion, abuse, improper modification or excessive mechanical wear. The P228 occupies a special place in SIG Sauer history. Its compact dimensions, excellent balance, traditional double-action/single-action operating system and proven reliability made it a preferred sidearm among military, federal and law-enforcement users, with the platform ultimately serving the United States military under the M11 designation. This commercial German example retains the original non-railed alloy frame, decocking lever, fixed combat sights, classic black SIG Sauer grips and beautifully engineered control layout that made the P228 one of the most respected compact service pistols ever produced. The combination of its traditional folded-slide construction and unusually durable electroless-nickel finish makes this pistol as mechanically interesting as it is visually striking. Included is the period-correct gray SIG Sauer hard case and three factory SIG Sauer 10-round magazines. The magazine accompanying the pistol is the original German-made magazine, while two additional Italian-made SIG Sauer magazines complete the three-magazine package. The unusual period 10-round German magazine is particularly appropriate for a 1994 commercial pistol and adds another interesting element to this transitional-era package. The molded case remains serviceable, although its original foam exhibits age-related cracking and deterioration, as clearly shown in the photographs. Factory full electroless-nickel P228s appear only infrequently, and complete triple-matching examples in this level of preservation are considerably more difficult to locate than standard-finish pistols. Finding another example with confirmed factory finish, matching frame, slide and barrel, excellent bore, German proofs, original German magazine, two additional factory magazines and its period SIG case would be a difficult proposition. This is not simply a clean used P228 with an attractive finish; it is a scarce, historically significant variation of one of SIG Sauer's most celebrated compact pistols and a standout addition to any serious collection of classic German SIG firearms.
