Product Description
Nighthawk Custom Guns & Ammo Signature Limited Edition 1911 chambered in .45 ACP, serial GA00045. This exceptional pistol represents number 45 of an extraordinarily limited production run of only 100 Guns & Ammo Signature pistols produced by Nighthawk Custom, sequentially serialized GA00001 through GA00100. Of particular collector interest, this example is GA00045, creating the unusually desirable pairing of number 45 with the pistol's traditional .45 ACP chambering.
Introduced as a collaboration between Nighthawk Custom and Guns & Ammo, the Guns & Ammo Signature 1911 was conceived as a modern interpretation of the practical fighting 1911 philosophy long associated with legendary firearms instructor Col. Jeff Cooper. Rather than creating an ornamental commemorative, Nighthawk and the Guns & Ammo team developed a serious all steel Commander size fighting pistol incorporating carefully selected functional features and the hand built craftsmanship for which Nighthawk Custom is renowned.
The pistol features a 4.25 inch Commander length configuration with Sniper Gray Cerakote finish, traditionally bushed and crowned stainless barrel, rear cocking serrations without forward serrations, extensive dehorning, hand stippled frontstrap, smooth flat mainspring housing with integral low profile lanyard loop, single sided thumb safety, solid short trigger, slotted grip screws and the distinctive original black Nighthawk Alumagrips with hawk and moon medallions. The original high profile Trijicon HD sight system remains installed, including the highly visible orange outlined tritium front sight.
The right side of the slide carries the distinctive GUNS & AMMO engraving while the opposite side displays the Nighthawk Custom logo. The frame is engraved "1 of 100," and the factory serial number GA00045 independently establishes this pistol as number 45 within the sequential GA00001 through GA00100 production run.
This particular pistol is in exceptional, like new condition. The Sniper Gray finish remains extremely clean with virtually no meaningful exterior wear, corrosion or abuse evident. The controls, grips, frame, slide and stainless barrel remain exceptionally well preserved, and the bore is in excellent condition with clean, strong rifling. The overall appearance is consistent with a firearm that has been carefully stored and minimally handled throughout its life.
GA00045 also has unusually strong documented provenance. This exact serial number previously appeared in a historical dealer listing where it was described at that time as an unfired, never previously sold Nighthawk display pistol. The dealer specifically highlighted the unusual relationship between serial number 45 and its .45 ACP chambering. Unlike an ordinary used limited edition pistol with an unknown history, GA00045 can therefore be traced to its earlier period as dealer inventory before entering private ownership.
Even more importantly, the pistol retains its original serialized Nighthawk Custom factory test documentation. The factory sheet identifies the firearm specifically as model "Guns & Ammo," caliber .45 ACP and serial GA00045, and records its benchrest testing at 15 yards on September 22, 2015. The document identifies Allen Wyatt as the Master Gunsmith and records factory testing with 200 grain SWC, 230 grain JHP and 230 grain FMJ ammunition. This serialized factory documentation provides direct provenance tying the paperwork specifically to GA00045.
The package includes the original green Nighthawk Custom soft case, original Nighthawk owner's manual, factory tools and accessories, Nighthawk decal and six Nighthawk/ACT magazines. Combined with the excellent bore, outstanding cosmetic condition and preserved original configuration, this is an unusually complete example of an already scarce Nighthawk Custom limited edition.
Only 100 Guns & Ammo Signature pistols were produced, and surviving examples seldom appear on the secondary market. GA00045 offers the additional distinction of the matching .45 ACP caliber and number 45 serial relationship, documented historical provenance and original serialized Nighthawk factory test paperwork. For the serious Nighthawk Custom or premium 1911 collector, this represents considerably more than a standard production Commander. It is a scarce, documented piece from a noteworthy Nighthawk Custom collaboration with a configuration, serial number and history that cannot simply be ordered again.
