Offered here is a very attractive Schultz & Larsen Model 60 sporting rifle chambered in the historic 7x61 Sharpe & Hart cartridge. Manufactured in Otterup, Denmark, this rifle is serial number 4066 and represents one of the classic Schultz & Larsen sporting rifles from the late 1950s era. The receiver is clearly marked "Schultz & Larsen Rifle Company, Otterup Denmark" and "M60," while the barrel is correctly marked "7x61 S&H" with a 12-inch rifling twist designation. The Model 60 occupies an important place in Schultz & Larsen history and is particularly significant in this chambering, as the 7x61 Sharpe & Hart became closely associated with the company's postwar sporting rifles and helped establish Schultz & Larsen's international reputation among serious hunters and rifle enthusiasts. The 7x61 Sharpe & Hart was developed during the 1950s by noted American ballistician and gunwriter Philip B. Sharpe together with Richard Hart. Schultz & Larsen became closely involved with the cartridge and built sporting rifles around it, creating one of the more distinctive European and American collaborations of the period. Today, original Schultz & Larsen rifles in this chambering remain especially appealing to collectors of classic sporting arms, vintage magnum cartridges and finely made European bolt-action rifles. This example retains the elegant traditional sporting configuration for which Schultz & Larsen rifles are known, with a finely shaped walnut stock, checkered pistol grip and forearm, polished bolt, blued steel barrel and receiver, internal magazine-fed bolt action and factory iron sights. The stock shows honest handling marks and light scratches consistent with age and normal sporting use, but remains attractive and structurally sound. The walnut still displays very nice color and figure, while the checkering remains well defined. The metal finish remains very good overall, with strong bluing and clear, crisp factory markings. The bolt and action show the high level of machining and fitting that made Schultz & Larsen rifles so highly regarded. The original-style iron sights remain present, which is a meaningful plus on a scoped vintage sporting rifle. Mounted to the rifle is a vintage U.S.-made Burris Fullfield Wide Angle 3X-9X riflescope. The original gold Burris label remains intact and identifies the scope as a Fullfield Wide Angle with Hi-Lume lenses and "100% USA Made" construction. This is a quality vintage hunting optic that complements the period character of the rifle exceptionally well and is far more appropriate to this setup than a modern budget scope. The recoil pad appears to be a later replacement and is not represented as factory original. The rifle is accompanied by a hard rifle case. What makes this rifle especially desirable is the complete combination of early Schultz & Larsen craftsmanship, the historically important 7x61 Sharpe & Hart chambering, attractive walnut furniture, retained factory iron sights and a period-correct quality Burris optic.
