The Para USA G.I. Expert takes the unmistakable look and feel of the classic Government size 1911 and gives the traditional formula just enough refinement for a more modern shooting experience. Chambered in .45 ACP, the G.I. Expert uses a full-size 5 inch barrel, carbon-steel frame and single-action 1911 operating system. Rather than loading the pistol down with oversized competition controls and accessories, Para kept the design relatively clean and traditional while adding useful touches such as three-dot sights, a lowered and flared ejection port, skeletonized match style trigger and subtly enlarged controls. The G.I. Expert is particularly interesting today because Para USA is no longer producing firearms, making examples of the company's 1911s a recognizable piece of the brand's history. Its combination of traditional 1911 styling and modest factory upgrades captures what Para was aiming for with the Expert line: a straightforward interpretation of John Browning's classic design without straying far from its roots.
