The cylinder with this gun looks like it would headspace a .45 Long Colt round, but since we have no factory box or spec sheet on this one we cannot 100% confirm that. Many of the New Model Blackhawks shipped with a .45 ACP cylinder and a .45 Long Colt cylinder, so it seems likely that this one originally came like that but that the .45 ACP cylinder is no longer with it. The serial number dates it to 1974, so it is a very early New Model, equipped with their then-new transfer-bar safety system."
