Serial number 5629517 places this rifle squarely in one of H&R's post WWII / Korean War era blocks. They got their first contract for post-war production in 1952 and ceased production in 1956. Total shipped was in the neighborhood of 428,600 rifles. The exact months and years were never publicly broken down in the same detail as were the WWII-era Springfields and Winchesters, so we can't be more specific on its date of manufacture. It was acquired by its previous owner through the Civilian Marksmanship Program in July of 2005, and he recently sold it to us here at the Cabela's Gun Library. It's in good shape overall, showing plenty of normal wear but no serious damage. The action is smooth and the bore is bright with good rifling. No box or case.
