The Savage 25 Walking Varminter is a comparatively lightweight bolt-action rifle that delivers excellent accuracy, making it ideal for varmint and predator hunters who cover a lot of terrain on their feet. The Savage 25 features the AccuTrigger that is user adjustable to get a light, crisp release with no creep; and a lever mounted within the trigger body blocks the sear unless the trigger is intentionally pressed in the center, virtually minimizing the risk of accidental discharge. The basic bolt design operates with 3 lugs, giving it a low 60 bolt lift that keeps the shooter's knuckles from hitting a low-mounted scope. The trim receiver has a partially enclosed ejection port, and is perfectly scaled to fit a .223-size cartridge. The synthetic stock, barrel, and receiver are finished in matte black that won't spook game, and sling swivel studs and a soft rubber buttpad are standard. Gradually narrowing finger grooves along the fore-end and textured grip surfaces enhance control of the rifle when shooting from field positions. The 2-position safety is located on the right side of the bolt, and allows the bolt to be opened for loading and unloading with the safety engaged.
