Product Description

Given that the two are sister companies, it's only logical that SRAM would get around to offering its workhorse Rival 22 Crankset in a model compatible with TruVativ's GXP (Giga X Pipe) bottom bracket. The GXP's defining elements include a left bearing with a smaller diameter to mate with the stepped spindle of SRAM cranks. This design allows the inner race of the left side bearing to be captured between the crankarm and the spindle, effectively locating the crank. The right side bearing floats on the spindle, handling only radial loads as you pedal. In addition to the optimized bearing load, GXP builds also feature TruVativ's Gutter Seal Technology, which effectively keeps the elements of the gutter out of your bottom bracket's bearings. Other than those benefits, the Rival 22 GXP Crankset includes the usual features you'd expect from SRAM, including super-stiff, 5mm 7075-T6 CNC-machined aluminum chainrings and the same X-Glide R precision-shifting technology pioneered on the revolutionary XX mountain groupset. Shifting is not just smooth, it also does away with the "shift lag" that leaves you figuratively and literally in the lurch as you wait for the chain to engage with the ramp pins. The aluminum arms and machined alloy spider are a tremendously stiff package that doesn't weigh much more than its carbon equivalents. The Rival 22 crankset works with any of the company's Yaw front derailleurs, which reorients the cage's angle as it shifts between rings, improving precision and eliminating the need for trimming to avoid chain rub. It's a true 22-speed group, which is why SRAM was sure to include the number in the crank's title. Please note that the SRAM Rival 22 GXP Crankset is designed to work with GXP bottom brackets, but it does not include a bottom bracket. For best results, mate this puppy with a SRAM 22-speed drivetrain and PC-1130 chain and let the shift levers fly.
