The 1556 Air Case is part of Pelican?s Long/Deep Series, which offers a sizable interior so you can avoid dangerously forcing your equipment into the wrong size case or leaving it unprotected with no other options. Available with or without foam inserts, the 1556 Air Case is up to 40% lighter than hard cases of a similar class. Like all of Pelican?s Air Cases, the 1556 remarkably durable despite its lightweight thanks to its molded HPX resin, a proprietary formula that rebounds without breaking, as well as honeycomb structural elements that are stronger than solid polymer. To ensure they could stand up to the rigors of heavy field use, the Air Cases are subjected to a series of tests: A drop test from 3 feet onto solid concrete, a 20-minute submersion in 3 feet of water, a 914 meter roll test for the wheels, and a test involving a 28-pound steel dart dropped on all sides and corners of the case ? the Air Case passed all of these tests with flying colors. In addition, the Air Case is equipped with press and pull latches, rubber overmolded handles, an automatic purge valve to balance air pressurem and a removable polycarbonate card holder.
