It features a 7.5" barrel, a polished chrome finish, and is equipped with a Picatinny rail for mounting modern optics such as red dots or scopes. This makes it ideal for hunting and target shooting. The Uberti 345496 revolver offers a blend of historical accuracy and contemporary upgrades, including a retractable firing pin for safer carry with all six chambers loaded. The Uberti 1873 Cattleman Hunter is chambered in .44 Remington Magnum, ensuring powerful performance and reliability. In July 1873, the U. S. Army adopted the Colt Single Action Army revolver to replace the aging Model 1860 percussion-cap revolvers. The Single Action Army quickly earned the admiration of soldiers for its impressive stopping power, exceptional accuracy, and durable, easy-to-maintain design. Its reputation spread rapidly, and soon civilians, lawmen, and outlaws alike were drawn to its superior craftsmanship. As the Wild West was tamed, the revolver's legacy endured. Iconic figures like Theodore Roosevelt and his Rough Riders carried them during their historic charge up San Juan Hill, while General George S. Patton continued to carry a Single Action Army revolver during World War II, despite the rise of semiautomatic pistols. Today, the spirit of the Colt Single Action Army is carried on by Uberti 1873 Hunter Revolvers. These modern handguns are visually faithful to the original designs, preserving the timeless appeal of the classic revolver while offering two significant upgrades. The first is the addition of a picatinny rail, enabling users to mount modern optics such as red dots or magnified scopes. This feature makes the Model 1873 Hunter ideal for both target shooting and hunting. The second major improvement is the introduction of a retractable firing pin. Unlike the original Single Action Army, which had a firing pin that rested on the primer of a loaded cartridge (making it unsafe to carry fully loaded), the retractable pin in the Uberti Model 1873 allows for safe carry with all six chambers loaded, eliminating the need to leave the hammer resting on an empty chamber.
