S. Army, replacing older Model 1860 percussion-cap revolvers. Known for its stopping power, accuracy, and easy maintenance, the Single Action Army became popular among soldiers, civilians, lawmen, and outlaws. Its legacy persisted beyond the Wild West, with notable users like Theodore Roosevelt and General George S. Patton. Today, Uberti continues the spirit of the Colt Single Action Army with their Model Uberti 1873 revolvers, maintaining visual authenticity while incorporating a retractable firing pin for enhanced safety, addressing a concern with the original design that made carrying all six rounds potentially unsafe. Uberti fixes this age-old problem with a unique new system: At rest, the firing pin floats freely in its guide and exerts no pressure on the chamber. When the hammer is fully cocked, the sear shifts into position to engage the pin. When the trigger is pulled the sear engages the pin and locks it forward until the trigger is released. With the firing pin remaining unlocked while the hammer is down, the risk of accidental discharge is reduced. Uberti 1873 Cattleman BirdHead OM .45 Colt 3.5" Bbl Revolver 344691
