What Our Gearhead(R) Experts Are Saying:"The Mutant is a genuinely light helmet that doesn't feel like it's cutting corners on protection. The EPP foam with ABS reinforcement on top gives you solid coverage, and it ventilates better than you'd expect for how minimal it is. The adjustment system is simple and compact, which makes it easy to stuff into a pack when you don't need it. Starting at 153 grams, it's one of the lighter options in this category without stepping into foam-only territory."Who It's ForClimbers and mountaineers who prioritize low weight without sacrificing protectionThe Mutant works well for climbers and alpinists who want a helmet that travels light and packs small. Three sizes cover a wide range of head sizes, and the minimal adjustment system keeps things simple on approach or in the field. A good fit for sport climbers, trad climbers, and mountaineers who want one helmet that handles both cragging and alpine objectives. What It's ForClimbing and mountaineering where weight and packability matterThe Mutant is built for use on rock and in the mountains, where a helmet needs to protect against both falling rock and impact from a fall. The EPP construction handles repeated low-level impacts without degrading the way EPS foam can, making it a durable long-term option for climbers who wear their helmet regularly. Why We Like ItEPP construction, ABS reinforcement, and a minimal adjustment systemEPP foam offers good all-round protection on the top and sides while staying light enough to forget you're wearing it. The ABS reinforcement at the top adds structure where you need it most without meaningfully adding weight. The adjustment system is stripped down intentionally, keeping the helmet compact enough to fit in a pack without taking up much space. Three sizes and a wide fit range mean most climbers can find a comfortable, secure fit.
