There&';s a good reason Gram Parsons became enamored with this spectacular jewel in Southeastern California. Two unique desert ecosystems collide with gorgeous elevation change, wide-open solitude, and a surprising plethora of wild plants and animals. Geologists will be quick to point out that the abundant rock formations in Joshua Tree are made up of quartz monzonite and climbers rave about the rock&';s awesome friction. Everyone can agree, however, that there&';s just something about Joshua Tree that soothes the soul. Once your day of exploring JTNP is done, relax back at camp, cue up the Eagles&'; "Peaceful Easy Feeling", and fall asleep in the desert night with a million stars all around.
