In Big Bend country, the Chisos Mountains rise high out of the Texas desert. These rugged giants end abruptly to the south giving way to jaw-dropping panoramic views of the desert floor and foreign ranges across the Mexican border. Strap on your boots, cinch down your pack, and make the hike to the South Rim. Once you&';ve trekked through the yuccas, prickly pear, and exposed rock, hang your tired legs off the sheer cliffs and watch the Rio Grande make its big bend.
