For measuring supersaturated solutions a smaller Hydrometer with increased surface tension will give a more accurate reading but this depends on the density of the fluid to begin with. As the supersaturated solution decreases in density the Hydrometer decreases in size. When the Hydrometer is no longer submerged under water the remaining surface tension will be lower. For measuring dense liquids a smaller Hydrometer will do.
