This is particularly critical to extending barrel life of high velocity rifle cartridges. When cleaning a rifle, angle the muzzle downward and use a bore guide. This ensures solvents, crud, and grime won't drip or run through the action, gumming up the trigger and possibly damaging the bedding. 1-piece, coated cleaning rods are recommended.
