Steiner Commander Features The Steiner Commander uses an auto focus design that eliminates the need for manual focusing in most conditions keeping the image clear as the user moves between subjects at varying distances. This matters most on the water or in the field where a traditional center focus wheel costs precious seconds while a target or vessel keeps moving. Its 7x magnification paired with a 50mm objective lens delivers a bright high contrast image well suited to dawn dusk and marine conditions where light gathering matters most. A wide 140 meter field of view at 7x gives users a broad field for tracking moving subjects such as wildlife or vessels on open water and an exit pupil diameter of 7.10mm further supports performance in low light environments letting the Commander stay usable well after the sun starts to drop. Fully waterproof construction allows the Commander to be used confidently in rain spray or humid environments without concern for internal fogging or damage a necessity for anyone glassing from a moving boat or working in wet weather. The binocular measures 8 inches long and 6 inches wide weighing 42 ounces giving it a substantial but manageable presence for extended glassing sessions without feeling flimsy in the hand. A close focus distance of 66 feet allows users to shift between distant and nearby subjects without switching optics so the same binocular that tracks a vessel on the horizon can just as easily pick out detail much closer in. Included neoprene and floating straps add practical convenience for marine use since a dropped binocular on open water is gone for good while the CR1225 battery powers the auto focus system reliably over time rounding out a durable optic built for serious outdoor use.
