Maxim Defense SBA Short Barrel Ammunition Features The Maxim Defense SBA Short Barrel Ammunition is built around a Solid Copper Spun projectile paired with patented Tumble Upon Impact technology a design that lets the bullet penetrate bone and dense tissue before tumbling aggressively to create significant internal disruption. This lead-free match-grade construction gives shooters confidence in both terminal performance and consistency from round to round. At a muzzle velocity of 1056 fps the 285 grain load is tuned to stay subsonic keeping the round quiet when fired through a suppressed platform. The TUI design continues tumbling all the way down to 500 fps meaning terminal performance holds up even as velocity bleeds off at extended distances. Optimized specifically for short barrels and fast twist rates this load was developed by Maxim Defense in partnership with Fort Scott Munitions to close the ballistic gap that short-barreled rifles often face compared to full-length platforms. Each box contains 20 rounds giving shooters enough ammunition for a solid range session or a hunting outing. The quiet controlled report this ammunition produces through a suppressor makes it well suited to hunters and specialized shooters who value discretion alongside performance. For serious SBR and suppressed rifle owners Maxim Defense s 8.6 Blackout load delivers purpose-built subsonic performance.
