Product Description
Lenard Brownell-built Mauser 98 in 7x57 Mauser No 63 on a German Army WWII action with Reichsadler insignia. Serial number 932. Includes Nikon 4 x 40 Scope and Case
Brownell began numbering his rifles in late 1962/early 1963, and, importantly, only guns receiving extensive metal work, new barrels, receiver modifications, or another unusual characteristic generally received a number. The documented sequence places Nos. 53-69 in 1973, with Sheridan/Wyarno production.
Brownell's reputation was exceptional. The major reference on his work describes him as one of America's premier custom gunmakers and notes that his later work combined sophisticated metalwork with his stock-making. He was honored by his peers at the 1981 NRA show as the premier firearms maker in America.
