The SL still uses tried-and-true stainless steel for the body and the wings of the pedals. The Eggbeaters are easy to use thanks to their nearly foolproof four-sided design that allows your shoe to clip the minute it hits the wing with a slight forward or backward rotation. And, while they are machined to high tolerances, more importantly, they won?t rust, chip, or peel. The new SL spindle is chromoly steel with no rider weight limit. Needle and cartridge bearings are used in place of older bushings, and they are as easy to service as any pair of Eggbeater pedals. The cleat itself is a small brass two-hole piece that recesses into the tread of your shoes. This makes for easy, worry-free walking across any surface. They also allow for either a 15- or 20-degree release angle.
