It's built around a short-stroke gas piston system that runs cooler and cleaner than the direct impingement system found in most AR-15s. Instead of blowing gas (and carbon) into the action to operate the bolt, gas piston systems utilize a piston, so the action stays cleaner with less maintenance. The Carmel features a locking, rotating bolt system for maximum safety. It's crafted from a combination of steel, aircraft aluminum, and impact-modified polymer to take on the hardest use, and is fully ambidextrous to accommodate righties and lefties. Controls can easily be reversed in the field. The 2-position gas regulator (regular/suppressor) allows the use of a silencer. M-LOK rails at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock provide easy customization. 2-stage trigger. Cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined, free-floating barrel for enhanced accuracy.
