The BDL comes with high-gloss finished American walnut stock, enhanced by a Monte Carlo raised cheekpiece, a distinctive black fore-end cap, and pressed checkering. The carbon steel barrel and 1-piece receiver are deeply blued. At the heart of the BDL is the famous Model 700 action that encloses the cartridge head in 3 rings of steel: the recessed bolt face, the chamber end of the barrel, and the front receiver ring. This design provides inherent strength, while holding the cartridge in precise alignment with the bore for exceptional accuracy. The two position safety at the rear of the action is quick to operate.
