Unlike most variable-output headlamps that use buttons to change the output and have preset power levels, the Maximus uses a dial and can be adjusted lumen by lumen from 1 to 1000 lumens. Because the output can be so finely tuned, the Maximus can be used for countless applications. The lower settings can be used for close-up work and preserve dark-adapted vision, while the higher settings can be used to flood wide areas with light.
