Normally, we don’t consider freehubs to be all that exciting. It’s true that quick engagement can improve performance, and some freehubs make really cool sounds, but as a whole they aren’t the first thing that comes to mind when we consider lusty components. That may have changed with the Industry Nine Torch Mountain & Fat freehub. The new Torch retains I9’s industry-standard 3-degree pawl engagement, but doubles the number of engagement points (from 60 to 120). Also, the new freehub drops an incredible 100 grams.
