For over 130 years, Opinel's been making knives and tools in the heart of the French Alps. Joseph Opinel started knifemaking in his workshop in 1890, and today they manufacture in their factory in Chambery, France. This traditional Opinel #9 folder has a stainless steel blade and an olive wood handle, and includes the Virobloc safety ring that locks the blade in the open and closed positions. The Opinel pocket knife is lightweight and inexpensive while displaying simple sophistication. Even Picasso used an Opinel to carve his sculptures, so the knife has a famous history.
