Glas-Col Hemispherical Mantles Series O Glas-Col Glass Fabric Exterior. It is used for the slow heating of glassware immersed in water baths for the purpose of crystallization. The unique construction of the Glas-Col O Series Flask Mantle allows crystallization of small particles to a greater degree than with conventional cotton-sheared mantles. The fabric is impregnated with silicone to improve heat transfer in laboratory vessels that contain a liquid. Surfaces are impregnated with a brown organic epoxy compound which prevents contamination of the mantle from acids most organic solvents and alcohols. The color resulting from the epoxy coating is compatible with normal wash solutions. The flexible fabric permits it to adapt to unusual flask shapes. The heaters supplied with the O Series Mantle are covered by a three-year service life. The O series mantles are rated for 450 F internal operating temperature.
