This signaling device has a visibility up to 10 miles.Signaling Mirror Usage In the case of an emergency and you need to use your signaling mirror, follow these instructions.; Place the lanyard around your neck and hold the mirror in one hand.; With the mirror at eye level and the face halfway between the sun and rescuer; Confirm the sun is reflecting on the mirror by holding your other hand 6-8" directly behind the view finder and noting the spot of sunlight coming through the hole and reflecting upon your hand; Sight the rescuer through the view finder and at the same time rotate the mirror until the spot of light coming through the view finder becomes a bright round ring.; If no rescuer is visible, sweep the horizon line with the reflection mirror.
