ROYAL ARSENAL SPANDAU M71/84

Product Description

This is beautiful German IG M71/84 bolt action Mauser with an 8 round tube feed magazine that was manufactured in 1887. This beautiful firearm is chambered in the black powder 11x60 R Mauser cartridge. Even though this antique rifle shows some wear associated with its age and WWI use, this is in very good shape. There is some pitting on the outside of the barrel, especially where the soldiers were holding it between the last barrel band, and the stock end cap. Action works as it should, and locks up tight. The rifling is typical shinny grey, has minor pitting, but very strong rifling. All in all the bore is in good shape considering the age, black powder use, and war time conditions. the barrel has possibly been re-blued in the past, possibly when rearsenaled . This rifle has matching numbers on the barrel, receiver, bolt, and the matching last 2 digits are also stamped on the butt plate, safety lever all three barrel bands, magazine end cap, cut off spring, and trigger guard. The wood stock is in great shape with only a few dents and dings, but much less than is typical on a rifle of this age. The cartouches and markings in the wood stock are strong and clearly visible. This would make a great addition to you Mauser or WWI collection, and you will have to look long and hard to find one in this beautiful of condition!
