ShurFlo 12VDC Diaphragm Bypass Pump w/ Electrical Package, Shurflo 12 VDC 8000 Series Diaphragm Pump Bypass Pump w/ Electrical Package The Shurflo Bypass Pump should be used in a situation that would create frequent starts and stops of the pump. By using the bypass pump instead of a standard demand pump, you will reduce the potential for overheating during use. The Shurflo Pumps 8000 Series are self priming pumps that can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The prime may vary depending on: Thickness or Viscosity of the liquid you are pumping Orentation of the pump You should keep the Shurflo Pump as dry as possible at all times as well as provide the proper ventilation. Do not enclose the pump to keep it out of the elements without providing an additional way to cool the motor duing operation. Please remember during installation not to compress the rubber feet so much that they cannot absorb the vibration properly. Also, if mounted vertically, keep the head of the pump facing down. This way, in the unlikely event of a leak, liquid from the pump head would not enter the motor. We also recommend that you not use metal or rigid pipe fittings. Please use standard poly fittings and do not overtighten.
