This year, Bell has re-engineered the champ, shaving its weight by 10% and updating the headform for additional comfort. Race Star Flex DLX now features Bell ProTint(TM) photochromic technology on its class 1 optics Panovision shield, as well as new speaker pockets and triple-density cheek pads with added comfort lining. From a 3k carbon fiber shell to Bell's proprietary Flex liner for progressive energy management, this helmet is packed with cutting-edge technology to deliver premier performance. Leveraging the segmented liner from Bell's Segment bike helmet, Bell sought to achieve a more personalized, adaptive fit, regardless of head shape. In creating a first-of-its-kind impact liner, Bell utilized a revolutionary combination of polymer materials to provide a "progressive" energy management system that's designed to absorb low, mid and high-energy impacts. When it came to testing, the initial Flex samples outperformed any other motocross helmet Bell has tested to date.
The result is no accident. The Race Star Flex is the most advanced helmet Bell has ever made, with the ability to reduce linear and rotational energy to the head in low, mid, and high-speed impacts. Rotational Energy Management: A "slip zone" within the impact liner allows for subtle movement between the inner layers and works to reduce rotational energy transfer from angular impacts.
