This helps optimizes the performance of your Mercury fuel system. The unique filtration system helps prevent contaminated fuel from causing poor engine performance, stalling, and even damage to your fuel system components.Mercury filters are encased in a metal shell that features a powder coat finish to resist corrosion in fresh and salt water environments. The internal surface of this fuel filter has an epoxy coat to help resist rust caused by captured water within the filter.This Mercury water separating fuel filter is designed to fit all Mercury, Mariner, and Force outboards equipped with externally mounted fuel filter bases. Ensure the old gasket is removed from the mounting base.; Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the filter gasket. Make sure the gasket is properly seated in the filter's base.; Fill the filter with fuel to help prevent air from entering the fuel system.; Screw the fuel filter until the gasket contacts the base. Once it does tighten 3/4 to 1 turn; Run the engine and check for leaks;
