spartan-sword-1095-steel-high-carbon-26-greek-sword, Spartan Sword Description The Spartan Sword is designed from ancient warriors in Greek Sparta. This sword is not a xiphos but was used by similar warriors. The Spartan sword was generally used only after the spear was discarded for close combat. Very few original Spartan swords have survived. This sword is thinner at the guard while the the blade curves on the edge, before curving back into the point. The blade is made of high carbon 1095 steel, designed in an antique style. The hilt is simple, complimenting the Spartan style. The guard is thick, with a downward curve across the grip to protect the hand. The handle ensures maximum grip and the pommel mirrors the guard. Blade Materials This rapier sword is made from 1095 steel which accurately matches the very hard steel content of ancient rapier swords. Currently, 1095 steel is the highest carbon steel commonly used in swords. It has a carbon level of .95% which is one of the highest carbon levels for any type of steel. The most common high carbon swords are 1045 steel which only have .45% carbon content in the steel. 1095 steel is known for its ability to maintain an edge and is an incredibly hard steel. 1095 steel typically has a hardness of 56-58 HRC. While lacking flexibility, the steel excels at remaining sharp even through high impact collisions and can easily be resharpened.Sword Details Handle Material: 1095 SteelOverall Length: 26"Rockwell Hardness: 56-58 HRCBlade Material: 1095 SteelSpartan Sword- 1095 Steel High Carbon -26" - Greek Sword
