fire-chefs-knife-high-carbon-damascus-steel-fire-pattern, Chef's Knife Description In cooking, a chef's knife, also known as a cook's knife, is a cutting tool used in food preparation. The chef's knife was originally designed primarily to slice and disjoint large cuts of beef. Today it is the primary general-utility knife for most western cooks. A chef's knife generally has a blade of approximately eight inches (20 centimeters) in length and 1 12 inches (3.8 cm) in width, although individual models range from 6 to 14 inches (15 to 36 cm) in length. This chef's knife is 8.5" in length.Blade DetailsThis knife is made from Pattern welded Damascus steel in the fire pattern. Pattern welded Damascus steel is a hard heat treated, folded carbon steel. Traditionally, our high carbon Damascus steel has 11 pieces of steel, folded five times, making 352 layers. The steel is the perfect combination of hardness and durability with a Rockwell hardness rating between 55 and 56 HRC. High carbon Damascus steel must contain layers of high carbon steel. The high carbon steel we use is 1095 steel which is the highest content carbon steel used in swords. The combination of the steel layers creates a sword that is strong enough to hold a powerful edge while having the strength and flexibility to withstand powerful collisions. This makes the perfect steel for swords. The handle is black horn with an HRC of 55-56. This Damascus steel is folded less to show the fire patterning on the blade. It comes with a leather sheath.Knife DetailsHandle Material: HickoryLength: 9" Rockwell Hardness: 55-56 HRCSheath: Leather sheathBlade Material: Damascus steel 6 Pieces of Carbon Steel #43 and #40 5 Pieces of High Carbon Steel 1095Chef's Knife with Gift Box- High Carbon Damascus Steel
